The film bares similarities to L'ultimo samurai (2003). 1. Both Jake Sully and Nathan Algren are soldiers and are sent to Japan and Pandora to help The Japanese Emperor and the Resources Development Administration (RDA) to deal with Katsumoto and his rebel Samurai and the Na'vi. 2. Both, Nathan Algren and Jake Sully lives among the rebel Samurai and the Na'vi and embrace their culture. 3. Both Nathan Algren and Jake Sully fall in love with Taka, a Japanese woman, and a Neytiri, a female Na'vi. Both have family members who were killed in events connected to Nathan and Jake. 4. Both Nathan Algren and Jake Sully side with the rebel Samurai and the N'avi and they fight back against the Emperor's army and the marines. 5. Both Nathan Algren and Jake Sully kill their superior officers in the final battles: Colonel Bagley and Colonel Miles Quaritch. 6. Both films end with Nathan Algren and Jake Sully deciding to stay in Japan and on Pandora.
