Besides their four biological children, Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette helped raise 6 foster children. They were mostly orphans who were taken care by the royal couple, without becoming part of the royal succession. These children included Armand Gagné (1771-1792) who became a soldier and was killed in battle, Jean Amilcar (1781-1793) who was left homeless and died of starvation, Ernestine Lambriquet (1778-1813) who eventually married but died childless, and Jeanne Louise Victoire (nicknamed "Zoe", 1787-died after 1791), who was send to surviving relatives in 1791 and then disappeared from the historical record.
