Marla Gibbs had appeared in almost a lot of episodes of the series, giving her 207 of the 253 episodes, with the exception of the 1st 2 seasons. She also missed a series of episodes, for various reasons, mainly because she did join the original cast, however, she was very busy working for United Airlines, for the rest of the evening and with Zara Cully, who was with the original cast first, she was scheduled to work in episodes in which Gibbs was not available, for those days. For the beginning of the third season, when Cully was hospitalized with pneumonia that was contributed by a collapsed lung, Gibbs almost had to fill-in for her, for at least 18 episodes, until Cully's recovery, which brought her back to the show, on a temporarily basis. Before Cully's death, Gibbs, by then, became a series regular, the following season.
