Actor George Segal and actress Glenda Jackson had recently star-teamed together in 'A Touch of Class' (1973). That movie had been a Brut Productions picture as 'I Will... I Will... For Now' (1976) later was. According to an article published in show-business trade-paper 'Variety' on 24th October 1973, they were in negotiations to headline another double-act with this picture, playing the lead roles of Les Bingham and Katie Bingham respectively. In the end, the parts were cast with actor Elliott Gould and actress Diane Keaton respectively.
