The series is set in 2019 and up-to-date police cars, taxicabs, buses, and background vehicles appear throughout. More prominently featured vehicles are models that existed when the children were born in 1989. The Hargreeves family's main vehicle is a pre-1981 Rolls Royce Silver Shadow. Hazel and Cha-Cha drive a 1986-1993 Volvo 240. Diego drives a 1986-1990 Chevrolet Caprice and Syd's tow truck is pre-1988 Chevy or GMC. A notable exception is the Chevy Astro plumbing van stolen by Number Five. This model was discontinued in 2005, three years after he disappeared.
