R2's booster rockets were originally scripted to appear in Star Wars: Episodio I - La minaccia fantasma (1999) in sequence where R2-D2 leaned too far over the landing platform on Coruscant and fell off, only to fly back up using his own previously unseen rockets. Outakes of this scene have appeared in behind the scenes footage.
