A subplot from the novel, which is not included in the movie, details Paul and Chani having an infant son, whom they name Leto after Paul's father Duke Leto, but he is killed by Sardaukar. This subplot of Paul and Chani's infant son was used in Dune - Il destino dell'universo (2000).
