Though it is never mentioned, the human characters all trace their lineage back to Earth. House Atreides is of Greek descent. The oldest known member was Andrew Skouros; a warlord-turned-cyborg who took the nom de guerre Agamemnon; after the character in The Iliad, to whom he may actually have been related. Agamemnon and his brother Menalaus were the sons of Atreus, and were jointly referred to as the Atreides.
