When the protagonists jump into the first, abandoned German trench on the front line, there is a sign on the concrete wall in the foreground that reads "1 Gasfächer, 1 Eimer, 1 Stange, 1 Spaten" which means "One gas fan, one bucket, one pole, one spade". Equipment storage to clean up after chemical attacks. The sign in the background "Durchgang verboten" means it is prohibited to go through there. The next legible sign they arrive at, next to a passageway, says "Zweiter Graben" (Second trench).
