While Tanroh Ishida is fluent in English, he was the only cast or crew member who could speak Japanese. The dialogue in the script was written down but Tanroh improvised some of the on-set dialogue. No one understood what he was saying. It wasn't until post-production that the editor and director received translations to work from.
