The American Film Insitute's 'AFI Catalog' states that ''according to Dieter Menz, American films were more in demand in the current international market and therefore more likely to be bought 'blind' by theatrical distributors without a major star attached. By casting television personalities for the leading roles, Menz also wanted to improve his chances of being acquired by a network station. The budget for the film was mentioned as $1.2 million.''
