"Anyone saying that I was forced to do voice-over (in the theatrical cut), that's rubbish, I wasn't", Sir Ridley Scott stated, before pointing out that the inclusion of Rick Deckard's (Harrison Ford's) voice-over was something he initiated in order to clear up any confusion for viewers. However, he took issue with the poor quality of the actual voice-over, and apparently, Ford was equally unhappy with it, something Scott thinks is clear from his line delivery. Scott was obviously pleased that the voice-over has been removed from his final cut.
