In the Extended Edition, Galadriel gives knives to Merry and Pippin which she calls the daggers of the Noldoli. The term Noldoli was briefly used in J.R.R. Tolkien's early work The Book of Lost Tales to describe the race of Elves that would become the Noldor; the same race to which Galadriel belongs. In those works he borrowed several folkloric names to describe his original creations, like Elves, Dwarves, Ogres and Goblins. However the inclusion here is rather obscure.
