In the scene where Jude compliments Lucy on her teeth, we learn that the word "braces" means two different things in America and England. Lucy referred to the orthodontic device for teeth, while Jude referred to what Americans call "suspenders". (Fyi, "braces" is used in England for the teeth device as well.)
