The creators admitted that this show was created specifically as a satirical parody of Batman, in particular the 1989 movie featuring Michael Keaton. Early versions of the series were going to have a Robin-like sidekick and a butler like Alfred, but in an effort to not call too much attention to Batman, these characters were dropped and Launchpad McQuack was added in place of these two roles.
