Thor asks his father Odin how sacrificing countless Asgardian lives to defeat Malekith makes Odin any different from him. Odin chuckles humorlessly and replies, "I will win." In a deleted scene when Frigga and Thor discuss Loki, Thor asks where Odin is. Frigga tells Thor that he will find his father where he's most at ease. In a scene that was included in the movie, Thor finds Odin watching the warriors train. In Thor: Ragnarok (2017) it is revealed by Hela that she and Odin warred with countless worlds and conquered them without any regard for the bloodshed on either side. These scenes in this movie foreshadow the reveal of Odin's dark legacy in Ragnarok and how Loki and Thor must deal with the consequences of their father's choices.
