The M16 rifles used by the SWAT team were copies made by Armi Jager, known as the AP-74. They were designed to fire the smaller .22 caliber (Long Rifle) cartridges. In the hut at the helicopter refueling site Ken Foree can be seen reloading a smaller clip of .22 blanks into the larger magazine housing.
