Sir Ridley Scott initially toyed with the idea of setting this movie in the fictional city of San Angeles. As if San Francisco and Los Angeles had become one massive population center. This idea was used in Demolition Man (1993), as a combination of Los Angeles, San Diego, and Santa Barbara.
