Steve Martin was the second choice for Riddler after Robin Williams. He was offered the role but turned it down as with the death of his good friend John Candy and his divorce from Victoria Tennant, he was too sad to make any movies. He had previously turned down the Role of Alexander Knox in Batman (1989).
