This movie was inspired by the life of Asta Philpot, which was chronicled in the 2007 documentary "For One Night Only". Asta Philpot's story was then fictionalized in the 2011 film "Hasta la Vista" a.k.a. "Come as You Are" and the 2016 film "Adios Amigos".
