The Season Nine episodes California: Noises Everywhere: Part 1 (1987) and California: Noises Everywhere: Part 2 (1987) were the series' 200th and 201st episodes respectively. Dealing with the death of Laura (Constance McCashin) and her funeral, the episodes were conceived by the cast members who spent a weekend at the executive producer David Jacobs' ranch and improvised their scenes, before filming them.
