Captain Leland Stottlemeyer is a native of San Francisco, but moved to Los Angeles and moved back in 1979. Detective Monk: Mr. Monk Makes the Playoffs (2009) (#7.13), when he says, "I have not lived in Los Angeles for thirty years." He Detective Monk: Mr. Monk and the Bad Girlfriend (2007) (#6.14), that he was fifty-one-years-old. So he would have been twenty-two or twenty-three in 1979 when he left Los Angeles.
