The final episode of the series, "The Iron Throne", was watched by a record 19.3 million viewers across HBO's platforms (linear, HBO GO and HBO NOW), exceeding the previous series high of 18.4 million viewers from the previous episode, "the Bells". In addition, the episode was the most-watched broadcast on HBO ever, with 13.6 million viewers for its initial airing, beating the previous record of 13.4 million viewers for I Soprano: For All Debts Public and Private (2002) from The Sopranos.
