The first documentary to be nominated at the Razzie awards, winning in four "acting" categories, including "Worst Actor" for George W. Bush. It remained the only documentary to be "awarded" at the Razzies for twelve years until Dinesh D'Souza's Hillary's America: The Secret History of the Democratic Party (2016) won "Worst Picture" in 2017. Michael Moore's follow-up documentary Fahrenheit 11/9 (2018) was similarly awarded in the "acting" categories in 2019, including "Worst Actor" for Donald Trump. D'Souza's follow-up documentary Death of a Nation (2018) was also nominated in several categories at the Razzies that same year, including "Worst Screenplay" and "Worst Remake, Rip-Off or Sequel".
