When Warner Bros. passed on releasing Supergirl - La ragazza d'acciaio (1984), which was originally designed to be their tent pole release that year, they hurried the release of "Die unendliche Geschichte" (The Neverending Story) for summer audiences. It and Supergirl went on to be critical and financial failures when they premiered.
