At the film's ending, it is revealed V'Ger is in real life Voyager VI, a space probe launched by NASA at the end of the 20th century. In real life, NASA only launched two Voyager's space probes: Voyager I on September 5, 1977, and Voyager II on August 20, 1977 (they weren't launched following their numbers). They are among the five human constructions to surpass the limits of the solar system to enter interstellar space.
