One of Matt Farrell's hacker pals is named Clay, a clear nod to the alias Hans Grüber uses when he accidentally stumbles across McClane unarmed whilst searching for the detonators at the Nakotomi plaza in Die Hard (1988). The name Grüber uses to fool McClane was Bill Clay.
