Tom Skerritt said once met a theater owner in his home state of Texas, who complained that the chest bursting scene was messing up his restrooms, as patrons got sick while watching the scene and went there to throw up. The owner told him how he fixed the problem by cutting out the entire dinner scene from their print of the film. This caused a serious plot hole, as the film suddenly cut to Kane's funeral, and there was no explanation why the crew was suddenly chasing a small alien creature.
