Fox chose to sell their film and television entertainment assets of 21st Century Fox in 2017, an offer that drew the bids of both Comcast and the Walt Disney Company. Disney was the victor with a $71.3 billion offer and closed the deal in March 2019. Because of this, Disney would subsequently own the Fox-produced Marvel films and gain the film rights to both the Fantastic Four and the X-Men film series through their ownership of 20th Century Fox. Disney transferred the film rights to Marvel Studios and the studio is currently prepping a reboot of the Fantastic Four.
