This film marks the only time in the trilogy when Doc Brown exchanges dialogue with a member of the Tannen family. He had previously "interacted" with Biff in the alternate 1985 in Ritorno al futuro - Parte II (1989) by knocking him down on the roof of Biff's Pleasure Palace with the opening gull-wing DeLorean door.
