The love scene between Leslie Nielsen and Priscilla Presley involving a pottery wheel is a send-up of a similar, more romantic scene in Ghost - Fantasma (1990) starring Patrick Swayze and Demi Moore. That movie was directed by Jerry Zucker, co-creator of The Kentucky Fried Movie (1977), Airplane! (1980), and Police Squad! (1982) with his brother David Zucker, who directed this movie.
