Although "Identity" is not a direct remake of the novel/film "And Then There Were None" (sometimes known as "Ten Little Indians") written by Agatha Christie, the film takes several plot points from the story. The dialogue even references "that movie where the ten strangers went to an island, and then they all died, one by one." Although the play and film adaptations give the story a happy ending, "Identity" keeps the original novel's ending, where the killer is revealed as one of the victims who faked their death and where no one survives the incident. Though by the novel's account, the killer commits suicide after convincing the last survivor to kill themselves as well.
