Despite being given top billing, Emilio Estevez only appears as Gordon Bombay at the beginning, during the middle scene with Charlie, and towards the end of the film. Altogether he has less than 20 minutes of screen time. He was busy filming Conflitti di famiglia (1996) and he wasn't able to devote much time to this film, hence the much smaller role than in the past two films. He agreed to a smaller role in the film for free in exchange for Disney helping fund The War at Home.
