Up until Joan Rivers's death in 2014, she made guest appearances on her friend's show, 12 times, and even co-hosted the show, twice. The show paid tribute to her on the September 7, 2014 taping, right around the same time, both former hosts Regis Philbin and Kathie Lee Gifford had attended Joan Rivers's funeral. Although Kelly Ripa was said to be her fan, she did not attend Rivers's funeral.
