The lead "knuckle-man" in this film, as with its source 'The Last of the Knucklemen' play, is nick-named "Tarzan" after the legendary jungle hero character as created by Edgar Rice Burroughs. Actor Gerard Kennedy, who plays Tarzan in this film, said in an interview on the DVD that when the production arrived in the country town of Andamooka, South Australia, there was actually a knuckle man there who was nicknamed "Tarzan".
