As of season 39, the Free Play wedge was retired and replaced with a yellow $850 wedge. This is first time this amount has been used during gameplay since the NBC Daytime Wheel of Fortune (1975) retired the $850 wedge in 1979 and the first time being used in the nighttime syndicated version.
