Though this is the first time that three movies have been shot concurrently, it is not the first time that more than one movie in a planned trilogy have been shot simultaneously. In fact, the cast of this movie features actors from the other projects. Sir Christopher Lee appeared in I tre moschettieri (1973) and Milady (1974), although those movies were shot as one, then decided later to split in two. Elijah Wood made his movie debut in Ritorno al futuro - Parte II (1989), which was shot back-to-back with Ritorno al futuro - Parte III (1990). Hugo Weaving, and later Bruce Spence (who played the Mouth of Sauron in Il Signore degli Anelli - Il ritorno del re (2003) Extended Edition) also appeared in Matrix Reloaded (2003) and Matrix Revolutions (2003), which were shot at the same time.
