The resurrected Superman finally appears with the black version of his costume. The "Death" and "Return of Superman" story arcs from the comics had been planned to be adapted to a live-action Superman film for almost two decades before Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016) depicted "Death". Tim Burton's "Superman Lives" would feature a resurrected Superman the black suit (formally the Regeneration Suit), which ended up dropped from Justice League (2017).
