After entering the magical part of Paris for the first time, Porpentina moves through a crowd surrounding a circus, one of the people in the crowd is a little boy holding a red balloon. This could be a nod to the classic short film Il palloncino rosso (1956), which tells the story of a young Parisian boy and his magical red balloon.
