In the scene where Theseus Scamander (played by Callum Turner) is locked up in Erkstag, the creatures attacking him and Newt bear a striking resemblance to the Blast-Ended Skrewt, which first appeared in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire book (2001), however, Eddie Redmayne (Newt Scamander) called them Manticores during an interview with Jimmy Fallon. The similarities are likely because Blast-Ended Skrewts are hybrids of Manticores and Fire Crabs.
