Dan Aykroyd was almost forced to decline the role of Harry Sultenfuss because his previous film and directorial debut Nothing But Trouble (1991) was delayed for release by Warner Bros. the studio who released it and he was busy editing it for an eventual release date. However he finished his edits for the film by the end of 1990 and Warner Bros. confirmed a release date of February 1991 for the film which allowed Aykroyd to sign on as Harry for this movie.
