When John Candy and Eugene Levy's characters arrive at the warehouse for work, Tiny Lister's character gives them two Detex time clocks. These are commonly used in the security industry to show a security guard actually walked their "rounds" while on duty. How it works is the guard carries this clock while walking around the location they're protecting. They punch the clock with small keys, which are hanging at different locations around the protected site. Each key is numbered corresponding to the certain location, and when it's put into the clock the guard is carrying it literally punches the key number onto a small piece of paper inside the clock. This will show when and where the guard was at during their security rounds.
