Chris Farley was originally asked to cameo as Sergio Carol Brady's hairdresser and he briefly considered doing so to reunite with his Black Sheep (1996) co-star Tim Matheson who plays Roy/Trevor. However Farley's contract with Paramount Pictures ended after Black Sheep's release and he fell out with the studio due to production problems he experienced while making that film. Matheson then asked if David Spade would play Sergio instead. Director Arlene Sanford approved and so did Spade. Farley never made another film for Paramount Pictures again before his untimely death in December, 1997.
