Martin Sheen has played the U.S. President many times throughout his career, most notably as John F. Kennedy in a 1983 miniseries. He has also played Robert F. Kennedy, John Dean (White House counsel under Richard Nixon) and Confederate General Robert E. Lee (in Gettysburg (1993)). In addition, he played the White House Chief of Staff in Aaron Sorkin's film Il presidente - Una storia d'amore (1995).
