The tent scene, including Mr. Rogers eventually getting frustrated with the tent, is based on an actual scene that was filmed for Mister Rogers' Neighborhood (1968). Clips of the scene were shown during the Fred Rogers interview in Late Night with David Letterman: Episode #1.11 (1982).
