In honor of the 40th anniversary, the first week of the season was XL Week and throughout the season they would have XL shows occasionally to celebrate the 40th anniversary. On the wheel there would be two $1 million wedges instead of the single one, and they would not have the bankrupt spaces increasing the chances of winning $1 million in the bonus round if one of the wedges was taken to the Bonus Round. Plus there would be an XL space if the player takes it to the bonus round, they would also give somebody with a spin ID at home a chance to win $40,000. Also after the prize puzzle round, anyone watching at home would have a chance to enter the prize puzzle on Wheel of Fortune's website for a chance to win $40,000.
