The conflict between the Prophets and Pah-Wraiths that is explored in several episodes bears many similarities to later seasons of Stargate SG-1, in that an ascended race of beings known as the Ancients were in conflict with the Ori, who espoused a religion called Origin. The Ancients sought to protect and hide the residents of the Milky Way, much as the Prophets in DS9 protected the Bajorans, and like the Ori on SG-1, the Pah-Wraith's religion places an emphasis on fire-based imagery.
