Peter Berg, Zack Snyder, and Joss Whedon were offered to direct the movie as well. Snyder turned it down due to filming commitments to 300, while Whedon declined in favor of writing and directing a Wonder Woman movie which unfortunately never came through. Whedon would go on to direct The Avengers and Avengers: Age of Ultron set within the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
