It is implied in this film that Sandy and SpongeBob first met at camp during their childhood, however they both actually met for the first time in the classic SpongeBob episode "Tea at the Treedome." One popular fan theory is that Sandy might have created a memory wiper after she left Camp Coral so she wouldn't be upset, then she would meet SpongeBob again years later during the events of "Tea at the Treedome."
