During an interview earlier in 2018, Fran Drescher admitted that the network pushed for the wedding between Fran and Maxwell, otherwise the network would've cancelled the show, Drescher wanted the love between Fran and Max to go a little slower. Drescher alongside Daniel Davis said how the relationship between Niles and C.C. got more involved in the last season was also the network. Davis claimed he never understood why the two got together in the first place as they were so "oil and water" . Daniel Davis' reservation is however strange: the background between Niles and C.C. was established throughout the series, early on when they got drunk and danced together, and even kissed; and in season four's La tata: Fran's Gotta Have It (1997), C.C. overtly admits her feeling for her nemesis to both Maxwell and Fran.
